We had a great day on Saturday visiting Bakewell Farmers Market.
Apparently, Bakewell's Market is the 3rd largest Farmers Market in the country. I'm not surprised. There must be at least 50 stalls selling locally sourced food.
It was great to chat to some of the local producers at Bakewell who will be coming along to Hartingtons Spring Food Fair on the 2nd and 3rd April.
Alison from Heavenly Cheesecake was doing a roaring trade and we couldn't leave without picking up a slice of her traditional New York cheesecake. Delicious..... even heavenly! We were very interested to see her latest creations.... Chuffins. These are mini savoury cheesecakes done in the shape and size of muffins (hence the name) including a salmon and dill variety. I'm hoping she brings these along to our Spring Food Fair at Baslow nr Chatsworth.
We also got chatting to Sue from the Staffordshire Cheese Company . One of her glorious creations was a chilli cheese funnily enough called Hartington. Perhaps we could adopt it as a mascot! The great news is that Sue has agreed to come along on the Sunday bringing both her award winning cheese and beer from the Leek Brewery.
We are now full for our Spring Food Fair and have over 20 artisan stallholders coming along over the weekend. It's getting very exciting!
